Memorials With Bad Marker Photos, Forest Lawn Glendale

With Forest Lawn Glendale being as large a cemetery as it is and having so many Find A Grave memorials, it is inevitable that some marker photos have been posted that can apparently be greatly improved upon. It turns out that Find A Grave has a protocol for dealing with really bad marker photos ONCE a substanitally better photo has been posted on a memorial. The protocol is to send an email to Photo@FindAGrave.com and give them the memorial number for a memorial that has a bad marker photo hanging on (this is what the links on the right of this page do automatically). If a human being there can easily tell one of the two photos is much better or more legible than the other, they will remove the subpar marker photo.

I decided to do something to make it easier to keep track of these memorials with bad marker photos, so I have added a field to the database to flag them and as I get updates on these memorials I will add and remove them from this list.

These memorials are sorted by section, then by lot, then by space number. This should make it relatively easy if you are doing a photo request in a section and notice some entries from that section on this list, you can take a stab at getting a better marker photo to replace the bad one while you are doing photo requests in that section. Once you've added a replacement marker photo to the memorial, you can click on the links to the right to send an email to Find A Grave requesting they review the photos on the marker and remove any photos that have been replaced by substantially better ones.

If you notice marker photos that should be nominated for the dubious distinction of being added to this list, please send me the memorial numbers those photos are attached to using the mail link near the bottom of this page and I will flag them as such within the database, and the names and memorial numbers will show up the next time I republish this list, which should be fairly often.

And by the way, if you find yourself posting a marker photo where none of the person's names can be read nor any of the dates on their marker (assuming there ARE dates on the marker, which is not always true), I would urge you to refrain from posting such photos, you really are not doing anyone any good with a photo which is that illegible, and are just wasting space on Find A Grave's servers as far as I am concerned.
